Since 1978 the Bridgwater Agricultural Society has been supporting & promoting the agricultural community around Bridgwater, Somerset.

For the last four decades Bridgwater Agricultural Society has been supporting and promoting the agricultural and horticultural community in and around Bridgwater in Somerset.

GROUPS TO INDIVIDUALS

From flower shows to school to farm trips, from ploughing matches to bee-keeping, from young farmers to saving lives, BAS has funded and supported projects that have made a difference to many people’s lives.

GRANTS & FUNDING

OVER £1 MILLION has been given away to good causes and the Society would like to hear from you if you have a project and need help with funding.

BRIDGWATER AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

The society’s aims and objectives are:

The promotion of improvements in agriculture, horticulture and forestry.

The promotion of research into the improvement of farm machinery.

The encouragement of skill and industry in husbandry.

To advance education in agriculture.

To promote the conservation of the natural environment in the context of agriculture.

To promote the work of the Somerset Federation of Young Farmers Clubs.

Scholarship Information

Jeremy Walker Management Scholarship

The Jeremy Walker Agricultural Management Scholarship was introduced by Bridgwater Agricultural Society (BAS) in 2024 as a way of remembering Jeremy who was a local farmer and director of BAS, who sadly passed away late 2023.

Meet Abigail Angrave

Abigail Angrave was the well-deserved recipient of the inaugural Jeremy Walker Agricultural Management Scholarship of £1,000, which will be an annual award. The judges commented that the standard of applications was extremely high, with applicants being shortlisted and interviewed.
